I was hoping to comment on Zoom but lost my place in line.
I am writing to ask you to reject the MDI amendment.

MDI presents two main concerns for me.

The relianc...↓e on unproven technologies - carbon capture and storage - is short-sighted. I agree that this is a cool theoretical possibility, it would be nice to encourage it. However, there are way better proven strategies that are getting starved by this proposal. Transit and affordable housing will move the needle in reducing emissions by reducing transportation cost and transportation carbon output. Conversion from car usage to transit usage is paramount and will meaningfully improve the lives of Californians. We CANNOT cut Tier 3 of services provided by GGRF. Doing so would be cutting programs that directly impact the people we need to serve.
 
You have heard from multiple transit agencies, all in need of help and all concerned for their lives as costs are rising. You have the opportunity to amend your proposals to include Transit as a first-class supported initiative. You have the opportunity to amend your proposals to include Affordable Housing as a first-class supported initiative.

Secondly: Free allowances are going to tank the market. Yikes. Do you really think that Oil and Gas Extraction in California should still be occurring in 2045? Do not allow these interests to overwhelm the legislation. Low Carbon Transit Operations Program (LCTOP) needs to continue.

The 100 biggest oil and gas companies have collectively raked in an extra $30 million per hour since the war on Iran began. You are California's air quality regulators - we can't eliminate critical funding for clean air, clean water, public transit, and affordable housing just to give even more money to Big Oil!

For the love of all that is holy, think bigger. We could have 24-hour BART on the back of these funds. It's ridiculous to incentivize more oil and gas production. If we could pay these producers to pipe their "products" directly back into the ground it would be the most effective carbon capture operation in the history of the world. Don't believe them when they say their industries are necessary. Get them out of here.
